Pleated shades are often confused for cellular shades. Pleated shades look a lot alike cellular shades, but they are very different in many ways. Pleated shades are a simple pleated fabric that only are to filter light into the room and are to work in aiding your home with privacy as well. Pleated Shades come in a standard 1″ pleat or the grand 2″ pleat. You can choose from many colors and patterns of pleated shades, including room-darkening pleated shades and light-filtering options. These options make pleated shades a very popular option for window treatments in homes across the world.

Pleated shades have the same appeal as cellular shades but are easier on your budget then the cellular shade. Pleated shades are different then cellular shades because they use a single continuous fabric layer to block incoming and outgoing light. The fabric of pleated shades gives you more flexibility in the light you allow in your home and allows you to maximize the privacy you want in your home as well but don’t help you to maximize energy efficiency as you would if you chose a cellular shade.

Pleated shades, don’t help as much as cellular shades would with being energy efficient as cellular blinds because they’re made differently. As their visual appearance is similar and they’re made to work in many of the same types of windows, they still don’t work the same when it comes to being energy efficient. The durable pleated shades are meant to be a beautiful and an affordable option, still providing multiple options in light and privacy control but aren’t quite as effective in these departments or in helping you with energy cost. Pleated shades are still a great option for your home and are still a very popular choice for window treatments regardless of these differences.
